The PWI 500 is about as legit as my wife's method of ranking the best NFL teams by the cuteness of their mascots.

This is the worst PWI list ever!Who ever made this list is a fail. All of this is a fail!Die PWI 500! Just die! There is no reason why the miz should be no. 1! This list sucks.

WHERE IS DAISUKE SEKIMOTO?!

Santino Marella shouldn't even be on the list let alone in the top 100. Neither should SuperCena with his 5 moves.

So...you don't rank Edge because he was forced to retire a month before the cutoff? Guess the other 11 months which included a 3 month title reign means nothing.

The MIZ number 1 a big Joke. Did you watch the way he was winning his title? always wit outsider intervention. The weakest WWE champion of WWE's history

Kane? No.4? you for real? what did this man actually do to achieve No.4?! and The Miz No.1?! oh my lord! i would have gone for someone like CM Punk or Randy Orton, OR EDGE?!

If you look at PWI's criteria for the top 500, the rankings make total sense. Good job, guys. Controversial or not I am diggin' the new issue.

Don't be mad because those clowns in impact wrestling didn't make it to the top.

the miz deserves number 1 because he held the wwe championship from november until april and main evented wrestlemania 27, he isnt a terrible wwe champion by any stretch of the imagination, havent you ever heard of being a heel, hes supposed to cheat to win thats how he gets heat from the crowd, if he won straight up without cheating everytime then he'd be a good guy and you'd be complaining because he'd be cena 2.0 and as for kane, kane was world heavyweight champion from july until december and also held the wwe tag team championships with the big show so i dont see how you can complain about his high ranking, hes year was just as successful as anybody elses and he is a fine choice for number 4

So Edge was left out because he isn't active; well his last match was at WrestleMania on April 3rd; while Jeff Hardy's last match was on the 13th of March; so how is he deemed active and Edge isn't? Edge has wrestled more recently than Hardy, and just because Edge decided to retire on TV doesn't mean Hardy hasn't and will be coming back.

Pro Wrestling Illustrated said...

It comes down to this, James: If you are retired, you are not eligible. I wish this weren't true, because Edge (in my mind) was the front-runner for the No. 1 spot.

We wrestled with idea of changing that, but the precedent had been set and we chose not to.

By Choosing The Miz as number1 , PWI500 lost all his credibility. After many year of PWI500 good work, is pathetic.

wtf?? The Miz number one, i agree that this year he was a bit impressive but it's thing to 20, not 1, top 3 should be:
John Cena - very strong, one of the ebst superstars ever
Randy Orton - the viper achieved the wwe universe one of the bests too
Alberto Del rio - royal rumble and money in the bank winner
or randy orton in first and cena in second

How often is the number one guy in the PWI 500 a loser in a six man match in a big pay per view (Summerslam) in a match that is not much better than the curtain jerk match (#2 on the card)?

The Miz's spot in Summerslam is definitely not what yiu would expect from the number one guy. More of a number 30 guy.

We love hearing feedback from our readers, even if it's negative. But here are a couple of very important things to consider before weighing in on the 500:

1. We strictly follow a designated evaluation period, which spans June 1 of last year through May 31 of this year. Anything a wrestler accomplished before or after that period--whether it's winning a world title or doing an opening match job--is not considered.

2. We follow a criteria that includes win-loss record, championships won, quality of competition, major feuds, prominence within a wrestler's individual promotion(s), and overall wrestling ability. It is not a popularity contest nor purely a gauge of "workrate." And it is, dare I say it, largely "kayfabe."

Win-loss record and championships wins are depending on the wrestler popularity or on a major feud.........

"Francais," again I'd direct you to the specific criteria and evaluation period for the 500.

Miz - We can all agree to disagree, but the fact is that he held the top title in the top company for longer than anyone else during the period, and won at 'Mania.

Kane - He held the world title for five months during the grading period, and beat 'Taker at back-to-back-to-back PPVs.

Punk - Did not win a match on PPV during the entire period, nor a championship. He was also on the disabled list for a while.
Jeff Hardy - Twice wore the TNA title during the grading period, but was inactive in the last several months of the period.

Sting - Wore the TNA world title for more than three months during the grading period.

Christian - Was out injured for much of the grading period, and only became a headline act and world champ at the very end of the period.

dude this sucks shannon moore should be more near the top hes amazing !!!???!!!!

Huhum.... Now i agree with some of your points, but again, wins and losses in a PPV are not depending on the quality of a wrestler but on the way that the federation use it...... I think this is not a professional PWI, because it's an evaluation who depend on the severals federations managements skills, not on the wrestler skills himself
